2011 AEJMC Luncheon: Community News Sites: What Works

August 12, 2011 at 12:15 p.m. CT  |  St. Louis, Missouri

More than 7,000 placeblogs have launched around the country.  Thousands more hyperlocal community news sites are now covering town and school board meetings that have never been covered before – not even in the heyday of American journalism.  Building on the J-Lab report: "New Voices: What Works,"  the development of a new citizen media site directory, insights from Placeblogger.com and more, we examine what is working in terms of content and sustainability.

Moderating: Jan Schaffer, J-Lab Executive Director, American University

With:
Lisa Williams,  CEO and Founder, Placeblogger.com
Nicole Hollway, General Manager, St. Louis Beacon
David Boraks, Founder/Editor, DavidsonNews.net and CorneliusNews.net, North Carolina
